How can I implement LVM in my kickstart configuration?

If you’d like to implement LVM in your kickstart configuration, you can use a snippet like this example:

zerombr yes
clearpart –all –initlabel
part /boot –fstype ext3 –size=100
part swap –size=8192
part pv.01 –size=1 –grow
volgroup VGBASE pv.01
logvol / –fstype=ext3 –vgname=VGBASE –size=15360 –name=ROOT
logvol /var –fstype=ext3 –vgname=VGBASE –size=5120 –name=VAR
logvol /tmp –fstype=ext3 –vgname=VGBASE –size=2048 –name=TMP
logvol /apps –fstype=ext3 –vgname=VGBASE –size=30720 –name=APPS

The resulting disk layout with look like this:

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/VGBASE-ROOT
15G 3.1G 11G 23% /
/dev/mapper/VGBASE-APPS
30G 173M 28G 1% /apps
/dev/mapper/VGBASE-TMP
2.0G 94M 1.8G 5% /tmp
/dev/mapper/VGBASE-VAR
4.9G 401M 4.3G 9% /var
/dev/sda1 99M 28M 66M 30% /boot
tmpfs 7.8G 0 7.8G 0% /dev/shm
